About Dr. John P. Forsyth

John P. ForsythJohn P. Forsyth, Ph.D. is a scientist, writer, and licensed psychologist in Upstate NY. He is also a Professor of Psychology and Director of the Anxiety Disorders Research Program at the University at Albany. He travels the world giving talks and workshops to the public and professionals on the benefits of mindful acceptance, kindness, and compassion, and how to harness these skills to disarm suffering in the service of living well. He has published widely about how struggling with emotional pain feeds human suffering, and on what mindful acceptance can offer as a solution. His research and teachings are based on a new approach to psychological health and wellness called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He is a senior editor of the ACT book series with New Harbinger, and has written two acclaimed books (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Anxiety Disorders: A Practitioner's Guide, and ACTon Life, Not on Anger). His latest book, The Mindfulness and Acceptance Workbook for Anxiety: A Guide to Breaking Free From Anxiety, Phobias, and Worry Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, is for anyone suffering with anxiety (click here for a press kit in pdf format).
